- Warm gentle machine wash in wash bag with similar colours
- Pull into shape after washing, before tumble drying/line drying
- Tumble dry on low
- Any warm or extra warm garments – tumble dry inside out on second cycle for quicker drying
- Warm iron if necessary
- Wash immediately after every use

TOG stands for Thermal Overall Grade and is an industry-recognized measurement for the warmth of garments and bedding. Put simply: The lower the TOG rating, the lighter the fabric. The higher the TOG rating, the warmer the fabric. Below are guidelines around how to dress your baby/toddler based on the room temperature. This is only a guide. The number of clothing layers may vary according to a baby's health, their physiology & the temperature in the room.

What is a TOG?
At Love to Dream we use the industry-recognised measurement system, called TOG. TOG stands for Thermal Overall Grade and helps simplify the process of choosing the right garment/s for your baby. Put simply: The lower the TOG rating, the lighter the fabric. The higher the TOG rating, the warmer the fabric.
- Products with a 0.2 TOG Rating are ideal for Room Temperatures between 75-81°F.
- Products with a 1.0 TOG Rating are ideal for Room Temperatures between 68-75°F.
- Products with a 1.5 TOG Rating are ideal for Room Temperatures between 64-72°F.
- Products with a 2.5 TOG Rating are ideal for Room Temperatures between 61-68°F.
- Products with a 3.5 TOG Rating are ideal for Room Temperatures below 61°F.
Finding the right TOG rating and dressing your baby appropriately for the temperature can be confusing. Every baby feels hot and cold differently, ambient temperatures fluctuate, and layering impacts thermal effectiveness. It's not a one-size-fits-all approach, but understanding these factors can help.

3 Easy Steps to Transition
Transitioning out of swaddling can be challenging — which is why the Love To Dream Transition Bag is designed to make this milestone feel easier. With the same cosy, secure feel of a swaddle, the Transition Bag features zip-off wings that let you gradually introduce arms-free sleep at your baby’s pace. Follow these three simple steps to transition out of swaddling with confidence:
- One arm at a time: Begin by unzipping one wing to gently introduce arms-free sleep while maintaining a familiar feeling of comfort and security.
- Both arms free: Once your baby has settled into the new routine, unzip the second wing to allow more freedom of movement. It’s normal for this stage to take a few nights to adjust.
- Move on from swaddling: When your baby is comfortable sleeping with arms and legs free, transition to a swaddle-free routine by moving into a sleep bag.
When To Stop Swaddling
If your baby is showing one or more of these signs, then it’s time to transition to “arms-free” sleeping. Babies will generally begin to show these signs between 2–6 months of age.
You should always consult your GP or paediatrician about your baby’s motor development if you’re unsure. Here are some signs to look out for to indicate it’s time to stop swaddling your baby for sleep:
- Starting to roll over during playtime
- Using hands to push up during tummy time
- Decreased or no startle reflex
- Lifting their legs and flopping them to the side
- Ability to escape out of a traditional swaddle
- Resisting being swaddled traditionally

How do I transition my baby from swaddling?
