Which swaddle style is right for my baby’s age and sleep stage?
The Swaddle Up™ Original is best for newborns who need secure swaddling with arms free to self-soothe. When your baby starts showing signs of rolling, usually around 3–4 months, move to the Swaddle Up™ Transition Bag to safely wean from swaddling one arm at a time. Choose your TOG based on room temperature, and size by your baby's weight for the safest, most comfortable fit.
When should I choose a self-soothing?
Self-soothing is a baby's natural ability to settle themselves to sleep, usually by sucking on their hands or fingers. The Swaddle Up™ keeps hands accessible within the garment so this instinct isn't blocked. Better self-soothing means babies resettle more easily overnight without needing a parent to intervene. Which swaddle style is right for my baby’s age and sleep stage?
The Arms Up™ position mirrors how babies sleep naturally. Hands stay near the face, ready to self-soothe. When should I choose a a TOG?
TOG measures how warm a sleep garment will keep your baby: the higher the number, the warmer. For rooms above 75°F, choose a 0.2 TOG Swaddle Up™. For 70–75°F, go with 1.0 TOG. For cooler nights around 64–70°F, choose 2.5 TOG. Keep a room thermometer handy so you're picking the right TOG every night, not just for the season.
Which swaddle style is right for my baby’s age and sleep stage?
Most parents find 2–3 Swaddle Up™ swaddles the right number: one on your baby, one clean and ready, and a spare for busy nights or unexpected messes. If your baby spits up frequently or you prefer washing less often, three is a smarter starting point. It's also worth having two different TOGs on hand if your room temperature shifts across the seasons.
How many Swaddle Up™ swaddles do I need?
We recommend that you purchase at least two Swaddle Up™ swaddles in the appropriate size. If you own two, then one can be in the wash while your baby is wearing the other one. It might even be helpful to consider having a third on hand to use in case of emergencies
