Real Parent Stories with Pamela

Meet Pamela, originally from Canada, and met her husband while he was traveling through Vancouver. They have lived throughout the United States as her husband was in the USAF. They happily reside just outside of New York City with their 18 month old daughter and dog. As a family, they enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors, and Friday night dance parties. .

What were your first thoughts and feelings after your baby was born?

I couldn’t believe we created such a perfect little human.

Did you settle quickly into a routine with your baby? If so, do you think it worked well for you?

We were able to settle into a routine rather quickly. Communication is what worked for my husband and I. We were always on the same page, even if we didn’t always agree, we had to communicate and compromise.

How soon after your baby was born did you begin to swaddle your baby?

We began to swaddle immediately after birth.

How did you come to know about LOVE TO DREAM™?

A friend who had a child a few months before we had our daughter highly recommended Love To Dream To us. We definitely owe them- I don’t think we would have gotten as much sleep as we have without Love To Dream!

Trust your instincts, and you don’t have to do everything on your own- it’s okay to ask for help, family and friends want to help!

Three words to describe life before parenthood and three to describe life after becoming a parent?

Before: Free time, Frivolous spending, Spontaneous trips. After: THE, BEST, ADVENTURE

What is the one piece of advice you’d offer new parents or parents-to-be?

Don’t forget to take care of yourself. Your entire life revolves around your newborn, and that can be overwhelming- it’s okay to take time for yourself (even if it’s just a moment).Do what works for you!

What are your top 5 essential items to have ready to go when baby arrives?

  1. Nipple cream (if you intend to breastfeed)
  2. Minky crib sheet
  3. Black and white rattle ring (or any black and white toy)
  4. Wrap/Carrier
